EXTREME COLD! Warming Shelters are OPEN!!

We continue to experience extremely cold temperatures which we expect to continue through next weekend. Please help us protect vulnerable New Yorkers by amplifying these messages:

 

• NYC Department of Social Services has activated an Enhanced Code Blue. Outreach teams are intensifying their efforts to reach and support the most vulnerable New Yorkers. No one who is experiencing homelessness and seeking shelter will be denied. If you see an individual experiencing homelessness out in the cold, please call 311 and a first responder will be dispatched to offer assistance.

• If you know people who may need help, such as older adults, or those with disabilities, please check on them to make sure that they are OK or if they need any assistance.

• Help us clear access to fire hydrants. If possible, clear a 3-foot perimeter around fire hydrants on your block so they are immediately visible to FDNY crews. Property owners are responsible for clearing snow from hydrants in front of their property. Call 311 to report damaged hydrants.
